Cloud Infrastructure Setup project preview

Project context

Project Overview

This project documents an AWS infrastructure setup spanning application hosting, managed data, object storage, content delivery, and deployment workflows. The focus was to organize these services into a dependable foundation for operating and extending the application.

What needed attention

Key Challenges

  • Deployment workflows needed a clearer, more repeatable setup to reduce manual release risk.
  • Application hosting, database, file storage, and content delivery each needed a defined place in the AWS environment.
  • The infrastructure needed room for future growth without adding unsupported scale claims.

My Role

Cloud architecture and deployment setup

Scope

Infrastructure planning and configuration across compute, managed database, object storage, CDN, and automated release workflows.

Outcome

Established a repeatable cloud deployment foundation with the core services organized for ongoing operation.

How it was built

Solution

01

Application Hosting

Configured EC2 for application hosting as part of the AWS environment. This established the compute layer for the deployment setup.

02

Managed Data and Storage

Organized RDS for database needs and S3 for object storage. The services cover distinct data and asset roles in the infrastructure.

03

Content Delivery

Added CloudFront to deliver stored content through a CDN layer. This completed the documented delivery path alongside S3.

04

Deployment Workflow

Set up CI/CD workflows to make releases more repeatable. The case study does not publish deployment-time or uptime metrics.

Technology decision

Why This Stack

The AWS services map to the project’s separate compute, database, storage, and content-delivery needs. CI/CD workflows support a more repeatable path for deploying changes.

At a glance

Key Features

EC2 Hosting

Application hosting configured on AWS compute.

RDS Database

Managed database service included in the environment.

S3 Storage

Object storage for application assets and files.

CloudFront Delivery

CDN layer configured for content delivery.

CI/CD Workflow

Automated deployment steps organized into a repeatable pipeline.

Delivery approach

Project Process

  1. 01

    Review Infrastructure Needs

Map hosting, data, storage, and delivery requirements.

  2. 02

    Plan AWS Services

Assign services to the roles identified for the environment.

  3. 03

    Configure and Connect

Set up the AWS components and their deployment workflow.

  4. 04

    Handover the Setup

Document the configured foundation for ongoing operation.
